Conclusion:
I think this car is an outstanding beginner car for kids and adults. The build process is very enjoyable (and educational for beginners and children) and the stock performance is just right for a beginner. It's fast enough to be exciting but not so powerful that it provokes overly challenging handling traits, unlike most insanely powerful RTR cars sold today. Remember to buy ball bearings with the car and install them during the build instead of the kit bushings.
Battery options:
Hard case rectangular lipo packs will not fit. Only oval shaped "stick" packs will fit the battery slot in the chassis. It has enough space to fit oversized 5000 ni-mh packs but I don't recommend running down that big packs in one go as that kills the stock motor quickly because of motor heat soak. Battery replacement is easy and doesn't require removal of the body, if the chassis is built according to the instructions, as one of the end stops can be swung out of the way to remove and insert the battery.
Handling:
The car is a well handling non competition grade car. It is well tuned for the moderate power of the stock motor. Out of the box it has slight tendency to oversteer with power on. With the 540 motor this can be a good thing because it doesn't have excessive power. The car would benefit from some rear toe in, but that's not adjustable. With a more powerful motor the car will probably benefit from narrower front tires. The best upgrade you can do is probably better tires. The shocks are really smooth and don't need upgrading in my opinion. I did not use any shock spacers as the car sits high enough without them.
Jumping:
On my sharp jumps it has a tendency to nose over slightly despite full throttle used while airborne. This tendency will probably go away if a more powerful motor is used.
"Must have" upgrades:
-Ball bearings.
-3 mm wire front brace as shown in the video to reinforce the notoriously weak A5 part.
