UnclaimedFr8 | Silent Night - Vika and Linda - The Spirit of Christmas (1995) @UnclaimedFr8 | Uploaded December 2014 | Updated October 2024, 5 hours ago.
Just perfect, done up here in waltz time, this Christmas staple needs no introduction. Written, indeed (1818) in six-eight time, I always thought if it were performed as a faster paced waltz, it would be very enjoyable, also. Well, here it is, performed simply, with beautiful vocal blending, by Vika and Linda. I'm certain that composer Herr Gruber and lyricist Herr Mohr would be pleased.
Vika and Linda are an Australian vocal duo of Vika Susan Bull and her younger sister, Linda Rose Bull. Born of an Australian father and a Tongan mother, they have been singing together for as long as they can remember. They came to prominence after singing backing vocals in Joe Camilleri's band The Black Sorrows from 1988. Their self-titled album "Vika and Linda" debuted in 1994. (From their website)
This Christmas carol was Vika and Linda's contribution to the annual compilation album "The Spirit of Christmas" (1995). Proceeds from this series of annual Christmas albums are donated to the Salvation Army for its Red Shield Appeal for at risk children throughout Australia. This album was produced by Lindsay Field for Myer Grace Bros. and distributed by Sony BMG. (Wikipedia)
For entertainment purposes only. I own nothing here (but the CD is mine).
