There was a time when all movies were silent. Of course, that was because they didn’t have the technology to add sounds to the video yet. But in the modern era, movies that take liberties with sound are few and far between. At least, not something as bold as having ZERO dialogue in a movie. And not just a silly romp. A violent, blood-soaked action movie based on a father getting revenge on his son’s killers. Silent Night does just that, and based on how over the top and wild the trailer looks, it’s gonna be a heck of an adventure to watch. Releasing on December 1, Silent Night looks like it’s a lot more than a no-dialogue gimmick. Joel Kinnaman stars as a John Wick-esque main character, who, after being shot in a drive-by shooting, loses both his son and his voice. So naturally, he decides to take out the entire crime syndicate that was involved in the shooting. He kicks butt and takes names. Although maybe not the name taking part, cause he can’t speak. Silent Night also sees the return of legendary action director John Woo. Woo hasn’t directed an American film in 20 years. Silent Night is his triumphant return, and it looks as if he’s making the most of it. In this video, we’re taking a closer look at the movie, based on what we know so far. We talk about what Kinnamon and Woo had to say about the production process, as well as the challenges of effectively telling a story without having any words to guide the audience.
