Hey guys! Heres something a bit unexpected. So I was just minding my business on the internet as usual when, out of nowhere, a bombshell of lost media got dropped. All of the introductory videos from Answer Team 341-B had just been discovered. These videos were once used in the defunct StoryBots app, StoryBots Classroom. After the websites closure in 2019, these videos were left on the cutting room floor and didnt see another use afterward. Thankfully, 4 out of the 5 videos were archived shortly after the classrooms departure, so everyones introductions were saved, except for one. Bos video was the only video not to be archived like the rest, and the only video online with Bo was in such horrible quality that it made it almost unwatchable, until now.
Jeff Gill, the animator responsible for these clips, had recently found these videos on his personal backup drive, INCLUDING the ever-so elusive Bo video in perfect quality. Yes, after 5 whole years of being lost, we now have all the StoryBots introduction videos in crisp quality. Kudos to Jeff for making this possible, I seriously cannot thank you enough! His drive of all the StoryBots videos will be down below.
With that being said, I also wanted to take things a step further. Ive been recently experimenting with an application called Hybrid, which upscales footage to a much smoother frame rate. So, I wanted to test this software out on some StoryBots footage. And I gotta say, the results were beyond phenomenal. It is so surreal seeing this footage in a glossy 60fps compared to the previous 24fps. On top of that, Ive also added some color-correcting to the footage, and again, the results were very glowing. Im considering doing more upscales like this, but Im not sure where to start, honestly. Lemme know if thats something youd like to see in the future. Perhaps Ill do more, who knows?
