Squall woke to her voice, his mind a haze of jumbled images. She called his name.
"Don't you remember me?" In the haze of his memories, he found her name. Rinoa, the woman he loved. They were finally together.
From the sky came his enemy, who threatened his love's life. She had angel wings and a familiar face. He didn't stop to question, but charged ahead. They fought. He won.
But Rinoa wasn't his Rinoa. Her imaged shifted and changed into that of another. Someone else he knew. The Time witch.
He fell to the ground defeated. Who had he just killed? The world exploded into a flower field. And there she was. He remembered. She was his real Rinoa. She smiled at him just as the Time witch used her magic to rip open the sky.
Rinoa was pulled into the abyss. He tried to reach for her, but her fingers slipped through his hand.
"You'll forget. You've already lost this battle," she said with tears in her eyes as she faded into the sky. And she was right. He had destroyed her memory and now the Time witch could become the Rinoa he would remember. And the angel would be swallowed by the endless nothingness, as if she never existed.
