Thank you to Fairfield Circuitry for sending me Randy's Revenge:
fairfieldcircuitry.com

Fairfield Circuitry holds a colossal reputation at this point for designing effects that uphold the timeless and classic while pushing the envelope farther than it has ever traveled, yet somehow never compromising on either end. The Randy's Revenge is no exception.

Featuring 2 ranges of LFO frequency, selectable waveforms (sine/square), an incredibly musical low pass filter, a blend knob and plenty of boost on tap, the Randy's Revenge is one of the most intriguing and inspiring ring modulation pedals that has a secret alter ego as one of the most beautifully musical tremolo pedals on the market.

Whether you're looking for the synthetic, resonant, clanging overtones of classic ring mod, or simply in the market for an incredible, amp-like tremolo pedal, the Randy's Revenge has a setting for whatever mood you find yourself in.

In this demo we explore both wave forms, both ranges of the LFO rate sweep and use the modulation to simulate some unison faux FM sounds, some clanging monophonic sounds, classic amp trem and more.

I found that this pedal excels at producing lofi feeling tones and is especially useful as a replacement to overdrive/distortion for ambient sounds, and the texture it adds in front of big delays and reverbs creates really special moments to process with other ambient guitar pedals.

With both the Chase Bliss Mood's delay in front of the Randy's Revenge as well as the Strymon Timeline and Bigsky serving as the primary source of ambience, hear what this ring mod/tremolo does in an ambient context.
