Sidney Bechet performs his own composition "I Had It But It's All Gone Now" in "L'inspecteur connaît la musique", a 1955 French film that was also known by the shorter title "Blues". The soundtrack is obviously dubbed, and Bechet can't help but improvise, which makes it even more obvious!
In the film, Bechet and Luter's characters fall out and at one point Claude has to hit Sidney over the head with his clarinet, which Luter said worried Bechet before the scene was shot! Bechet repeatedly asked Luter to make sure that he did not hit him for real when the cameras started rolling!
The film also stars the actress Viviane Romance, who can be seen briefly in this clip.
