In this episode of the Relic Runner series, I show you exactly how I built the Shulker box loading and unloading system that powers one of the most critical parts of the game. You'll see how placing your deck box into the system causes it to be automatically broken by a piston, dropped into a hopper, and sent into a custom dropper chute that transports it all the way down into the processing bay. This setup makes sure the deck is delivered in one piece, no matter how far down your game mechanics sit in the world.
We go deep into the redstone mechanics behind detecting when a box is loaded, using comparators and observers to control pistons, power circuits, and time the breaking of the Shulker with monostable pulse circuits. Then we move into the unloading system, where I build a detector that waits until every last item is pulled out of the Shulker before it gets broken again and sent into a recovery system. There's even a safeguard in place using a pulse extender to prevent the Shulker from breaking too early in the event of server lag or gaps in item flow.
To cap it off, I demonstrate how to simplify the entire circuit with newer redstone tricks I’ve learned such as replacing complex torch towers with sleek observer setups, and even removing the need for an auto-dropper entirely by letting the system naturally push empty Shulkers into a water stream. There's also a little bonus: a musical sound effect plays when the box is successfully loaded, giving a satisfying cue that your deck is ready for action.
