The shoreline of Antarctica (which surrounds and contains the sea/ocean) is composed of caves and cliffs, rocky beaches and mudflats... AND, in various areas, sheer walls of ice that tower 100 - 200 feet high. The footage in this video shows several of those stretches of coastline.
Compare the size of the ship at 6:40 to the height of the ice wall, keeping in mind that each level (floor) of a ship takes up approximately TEN FEET (including the steel webbed girders below it that contain all the electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.).
It will be interesting to know someday just how far out Antarctica goes in every direction. Some people think it's thousands of miles. It could be TENS of thousands of miles. Admiral Byrd was there for DECADES exploring. 25+ years is a LONG time to "explore" a relatively small area like the "Antarctica" we are shown on the globe. If Antarctica is a ring of CONTINENTS that has an inner circumference in the neighborhood of 78,000+ miles, THEN twenty five years sounds about right.
