Should you voice the slate on or off camera?

My tip is to voice it ASAP when the "Audio Speed" has been called, your Editor will thank you for this, as he will hear you voice the slate directly when he opens the audio file and not need to scrub through a lot of dead air to get to you voicing the slate.

This way it saves him a lot of time matching the correct audio file with the correct video file, as this part is mainly for matching the file and to sync it's mainly the clap.
