I have done them both: rented an art studio outside the home, and set up a studio in my house. There are serious PROs to both, and the decision to do either one will depend greatly on your current life circumstance, art goals, and also your personality.
Bottom line, in my opinion: your best choice would be the one most conducive to your making wonderful art! My final choice came down to that, and although it was hard to choose, I think I made the right call. What do you think is best for you and your art practice?
