Is Margaret Atwood "problematic"? Does her writing have implications for settler colonialism in Canada? Is The Handmaid's Tale a white feminist text? Why do white women align with white patriarchy? In this video I expand on my previous discussion of Atwood's role in UBC Accountable and dive more into her writing as a settler, her position in shaping the canon of CanLit (Canadian literature), and her participation in r*pe culture as a white feminist.

Something I didn't get to in this video was discussing Atwood's transphobic tendencies and the way she clings to biological essentialism. There are a few articles on her "we can't say woman anymore" twitter moment from October 2021, but there have been more recent incidents as well:
