Sam Raimi's 2002 Spider-Man included a classic philosophical problem, when the Green Goblin tried to force Spider-Man to choose between saving the lives of a railcar full of innocents or his girlfriend. The nature of that situation, which we call the Trolley Problem, and Spider-Man's response, can show us a lot about human nature and how we may not understand ourselves.
