UNION JACK
The government is facing calls from a big union to remove the Union Jack from the Australian Flag. As you know, this is the Australian Flag, and this here in the corner is the Union Jack. And that's what the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union wants removed. It’s always been a bit of a controversial topic. You see, the Union Jack is on the Australian flag because Australia was a British colony for many years. And when Australia became a nation in 1901, the Union Jack stayed. It's why the workers' union argues that having it on the flag is a "symbol of oppression", saying that for First Nations people it's a reminder of colonisation and the loss of their land. Meanwhile, others reckon it’s an important symbol of Australia's past. The call has put a lot of pressure on the government ahead of Labor's National Conference this week. But for now the government says its focus will be on other things.
FRANCE SOCIAL MEDIA BAN
France has become the latest country to give the green light to a social media ban. Early this morning, a bill to ban social media for kids under 15 was approved by both houses of the French parliament. That now makes France the first European country to bring in a social media ban, following the lead of Australia. Under the current plan, under-15s will be blocked from creating new social media accounts from the start of September in time for the country's next school year, and the ban will apply to existing accounts from January.

Now we're going to meet 8-year-old Miles, who has gone viral online after releasing a song about a bird. Sharne caught up with him to hear all about it!
DUNNY BOAT
First up, to a couple of blokes in South Australia, who decided to sail a toilet to Kangaroo Island. They say they did it for practical reasons. They needed to transport the dunny over and didn't want to pay thousands of dollars to have it taken over on the ferry. So they got crafty. Now, they actually did this crossing last year, but it's making news at the moment because this video of them has only recently been posted to their social media.
BACKWARDS SKI SLOPE
Now to a new world record set by Japanese trials rider, Tomomi Nishikubo. He's just become the first person to ride backwards on one wheel down an Olympic ski jump, setting records for both distance and steepness. The trick here is to go really slow. And let's just say, he had to give it a few tries! But persistence paid off.
