Good day! This is an instrumental version of the song "Родина слышит, Родина знает" (The Motherland hears, the Motherland knows), composed by Dmitri Shostakovich.

Dmitri Shostakovich originally composed the song "Родина слышит" (Rodina slyshit) for a play directed by Nikolai Okhlopkov, but the play never came into fruition. It is the first song of Shostakovich's Opus 86, which is a song suite containing four songs composed for lyrics written by poet Yevgeny Dolmatovsky. The original score includes a tenor solo backed by a four-part choir.
"Родина слышит" premiered in 1950 in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory under the direction of Alexander Sveshnikov with Zhenya Talanov as the soloist, backed by the A.V. Sveshnikov State Academic Russian Choir.
The song gained further popularity when Yuri Gagarin sang it during the first manned space flight on 12 April 1961.
