Short Sale Process in Maryland - I'm often asked "What is a short sale?". This is the process of selling your home when you owe more money on your home than it's worth.
Sometimes the bank will allow you to sell it at a reduced price and according to Maryland short sale law, the bank will forgive your entire debt. This is different than the bank foreclosing on your home where they take possession of your home and then try to sell it themselves. Short sales can take a long time to go through, anywhere between 3 and 12 months. In the end you should walk away debt-free and your credit score wont be as affected if your home went into foreclosure.
