On the hottest week in April since the beginning of time, Hannah and I booked Friday off work and did what we do best - climbed.
The sun showed up on time, the rock was dry, and we were booked in for an evening at the spa in York. It was truly a day of perfect connies!
Hannah first managed to tick Suckers Wall (3+) a highball that had always been a battle with mental commitment for her. From here, we moved onto a couple of shorter, harder lines, with Hannah looking to climb 6b or 6c - currently her limit grade. Hannah found a crimpy line that suited her, and definitely didn't suit me! I couldn't touch the start moves on this boulder, but Hannah got to grips with the moves really quickly and sent it!
I then stole the pads to try Otzi Arete 7a+. I took a couple of goes from the start but twice fell off the crux move using the heel hook, besides that it had felt quite steady! I decided to have a long rest, swap out my anasazi shoes for my skwama shoes - much better heel - and then got up the boulder on my next attempt.
