The Infamous Paris to Dakar rally that is held (almost) every year. Resulting in some of automotive's craziest innovations and adaptations of technology which we later got to see in everyday vehicles.

If it wasn't for these rallies and their super elite competition level. We wouldn't have had half the equipment and engineering we take for granted in our present day daily commute.
