The Moschetto Automatico Beretta Modello 1938 (MAB 38), or Model 38, was a submachine gun used by the Royal Italian Army during WWII. It is a blowback design that fires from the open bolt with a 600 rounds per minute rate of fire. Chambered in the 9x19mm cartridge, the Italian M38 cartridge was more powerful than standard loading and provided a effective range of 200 meters with the Model 38. Interestingly, the Model 38 does not have a fire selector but two triggers instead, semi-auto and full-auto. The Model 38/42 is a war time variant that was simplified to reduce cost and production time. Changes included a fixed firing pin, fluted barrel, and reduced rate of fire. The Model 38 and its variants were well liked and used by many other countries and individuals who were able get them.
