Aaron Mate went to Twitter to defend Noam Chomsky after his inclusion in the Epstein files was revealed. Not only is there correspondence between the two, but he also appeared on a plane with Epstein. In addition, in as recent as 2019, Noam Chomsky was advising Epstein on how to deal with the fallout coming from this.
From someone whose entire career has been based on being against unjust hierarchies, power structures, etc, many find it disqualifying that he would associate himself with someone so clearly, and even offer advice of PR in the aftermath of reporting on his crimes.
Aaron Mate came out to defend him, saying that he was a pioneer in his field of criticizing US war crimes, but received heavy and intense backlash. Supposedly, after learning more Aaron decided to flip his opinion, however I am skeptical. I believe he received the backlash, and decided to backtrack.
While Noam Chomsky's works are not invalidated by this, his credibility and future acceptance certainly is.
