I'm not sure about this, but I think that when SHK composed this, he got the inspiration from the OST of Majo No Takkyuubin (English title: Kiki's Delivery Service) entitled "Umi No Mieru Machi" ("A Town With An Ocean View").
Also, like I said in my D14 performance of this track, the music video focuses on Marie Antoinette and her affair with Hans Axel von Fersen before she got captured and executed along with her husband, Louis XVI, on the 16th of October, 1793.
The color violet is often associated with royalty because during the middle ages, the dye used to produce it, the Tyrian Purple, was extremely expensive to extract from sea snails in Tyre, Lebanon.
According to surveys in Europe and the US, violet is the color people often associate with extravagance (which Marie Antoinette and the rest of the French Royalty was accused of that led to the French Revolution) and individualism, the unconventional, the artificial, and ambiguity.
