After over 8 months, I finally have a new shiny. This took way too long. Much longer than it should have, and much longer than I wanted. Up until now, Froakie/Greninja has been my only personally caught/hatched shiny.
I tried hatching Honedge before. I got the parents ready. And then hatched 1,200 eggs before giving up. (In fact I think it -may- have been 1,250 but I'm sticking with the other number)
Fast forward a really long time into the future. I'm in college and start getting the itch. I can't really play anything too in depth and I'm poor so I can't buy any new games. I know there's people who play on campus, or are at least familiar with Pokemon, and I have no real "team" like I used to. So I grabbed my Shiny Charm and went into the Friend Safari... just to get skunked again. So I went back to hatching.
It still took a lot longer than I thought it would. 588 eggs later, I FINALLY see that blood red sword.
There's a rumor floating around that the Shiny Charm doesn't affect the Masuda Method, and although I just started back (and 588 is actually a reasonable number!) I have to feel a bit inclined that the rumor is true.
Either way, on to bigger, better, brighter things. 4 more Pokemon to go, who will they be?
Also, I don't have all those cool video tricks like speeding it up anymore, so I cut out a lot of the Bike Simulator. And for some reason, it's kinda... stretchy? or compressed or something.
Before anyone asks, yes, I knew it would be shiny in that egg because I saved before hatching the eggs. No, you can't save and hatch the same egg over and over and hope it will be shiny; that's determined when the egg is created, which is NOT when you take it from the Day Care Man. The only thing that is set when you take the egg from the man is the IVs. Everything else is already set in stone. So if it hatches shiny, it'll always hatch shiny, unless you trade the egg to someone else. Something something secret IDs or something something like that.
