This song, by the Splatoon 3 band "Riot Act" (also known as "OCK"), was a wild one to cover. I hope you can tell how much fun I had with this one.
The song constantly flips from minor to major, and while I tried to transcribe it accurately, I didn't worry too much and instead tried to get the most out of the YM2608 sounds and display the same level of energy, maybe even greater energy, from the original piece.
The droning sound at 0:22 was really fun to implement... I spent a while in my FM tone editor trying to get just the right amount of "bwaaauuuuhhhh" and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I try to exclusively use my own created FM settings for each instrument, although the drum samples (which come from Roland's Sound Canvas) were borrowed from Firecracker's instrument set. Speaking of which, I was also inspired a bit by Ohtani from Firecracker, who has a great FM rock style, so I tried to summon some of that same energy.
I've got some other tracks coming! I'm hoping to do a few more Splatoon 3 ones, let me know your favorite tracks from the game and I might consider covering them!
