Having trouble shifting gears? Hard to shift gears? Don't panic! In this video, I'll show you how to fix a stiff gearstick or stuck shifter in just 30 seconds, without having to take your car to the mechanic.
This common problem is often caused by a buildup of dirt or debris in the shifter linkage, or, seized shifter linkage components. With a few simple steps, you can easily clean it out and get your shifter working smoothly again.
Steps:
Locate the shifter linkage under the hood of your car.
Remove the protective cover from the linkage (If present)
Use the compressed air to blow out any dirt or debris from the linkage.
Apply a small amount of lubricant to the linkage.
Replace the protective cover.
That's it! Your shifter should now be working smoothly again.
Bonus tip: If your shifter is still stiff after cleaning it, you may need to adjust the shifter cable tension. This can be done by adjusting the small screw on the shifter linkage.
