I started working on Shenmue in September and I happened to be playing Shenmue I at the time on Steam. The synths I used in this song reminded me of a vibe from Shenmue, more particularly the strings. It is very obviously MIDI strings but I wanted it to have that full on attack sound to replicate sounds you would hear in a game from 2000.
