In this video, I will take you on a tour to Sheffield (UK). I will also show you the Crucible Theatre where live snooker events are aired on TV.
Sheffield has gone from one of the industrial powerhouses of England to a rising star of the UK's arts and culture scene. Formerly famous for its stainless steel cutlery, the hollowed-out husks of its once mighty factories and foundries now contain galleries, theatres and museums.
The name, Sheffield, has its origins in Old English and derives from the name of a principal river in the city, the River Sheaf. This name, in turn, is a corruption of shed or sheth, which refers to a divide or separation. The second half of the name Sheffield refers to a field, or forest clearing.
