Built around field recordings made along the Northumberland coast where JMW Turner painted Norham Castle, Sunrise, where the land, sky and water are an abstraction of light and atmosphere. This piece is a depiction of the intensity of sunlight that also includes recordings of distant pulsars.

In the arcane but lovingly xenic tradition of classic British sci-fi television, the unseen intelligence is both narrative device and visual metaphor: it shapes events, yet remains outside the diegetic frame.
Norham Sunrise as a metaphor for the creation of the human mind.
Norham Sunrise was filmed in a former leper colony on Tenerife. The Sanatorio de Abona was constructed in 1943 under the Franco regime, intended to house and isolate patients suffering from leprosy. The project included about 40 buildings, designed to be self-sufficient with facilities like a hospital, school, dormitories, crematorium, and a large church, but no patients were treated there, since effective treatment for leprosy was discovered. The military used the grounds briefly for training exercises, but it was eventually abandoned again.
