SHAKEDOWN RIDE ANTICS is back... and this time things start going wrong within about five minutes!
My mate Andrew — AKA Captain Crash — and I sneak away for another glorious mid-week adventure ride aboard my freshly sorted Yamaha Ténéré 700 and his suspiciously immaculate KTM 890 Adventure.
There was just one small problem...
IT WAS FRICKEN FREEZING!! 🥶
With my eyeballs slowly turning to ice cubes, we headed deep into the Watagan State Forest, only for Captain Crash to stall the KTM, roll backwards, discover his little legs couldn't quite find planet Earth... and promptly drop it! 😂
And that was only the beginning.
Before long Andrew's pristine KTM was developing a few mechanical complaints of its own — and even started shedding parts along the way!
But we had more important things to worry about...
BREAKFAST! 🥓☕
After battling freezing temperatures and thick frost mist, we finally rolled into Laguna dreaming of sizzling bacon and hot coffee...
...only to discover THE COOK HADN'T TURNED UP!
DEVASTATION! 🤣
So Operation Save Breakfast was launched and we headed for historic Wollombi, where a fantastic feed at Myrtle & Stone, garlic mushrooms, bacon, a roaring fire and a big cup of START YA BASTARD finally brought us back to life!
With full bellies, sunshine and feeling restored to our extremities, it was time to hit Yengo National Park for a cracking fast lap in absolutely pristine conditions.
And THAT is what these Shakedown Ride Antics are all about...
Two mates.
Two big adventure bikes.
Brilliant trails.
Plenty of laughs.
And absolutely no idea what's going to happen next!
