Only by removing the surfaces can we see this effect in detail, this also explains why the colossus is in this posture 'before activation'. When Wander rides Agro to the trigger point, Quadratus 'rams' the door open! It's hard to see in the retail versions, but with the surfaces removed we get a better look at what happens.
