HOW ARE WE LINKED TO THE OCEAN’S PLASTIC?
Shaded Seas is an interactive installation that reflects your movements in pieces of plastic found floating in our oceans. As you approach, the plastic comes alive and adopts the shape of your body. The sensors in the installation track the spectators position of their head, body and hands, mimicked by the pieces of plastic. In this mirror of plastic how can we reflect on our own environmental impact and consider the ways in which plastic is now omnipresent?
With substantial quantities of plastic now finding their way back into the food chain are our own bodies becoming as plastic as the ocean? If we understand the ways we are linked to the plastic in our oceans, we have a better chance of reducing its impact on the environment and on our own health.
