My combo today is my first-make Atenas Jacket, a tad snug, as mentioned, and my Style Arc Patricia Rose Dress, made with a bright, and very cheerful Fuchsia Triple Crepe fabric bought from Croft Mill. This dress is my 3rd Patricia Rose dress and it is such a lovely pattern. Very simple design which works well with this heavy crepe and it gives a beautiful drape. This heavier than normal crepe is a great fabric to wear this time of year, though admittedly I wear this all year round. I’d definitely visit Croft Mill again and pick another one of their bright colourful triple crepes to make a 4th one of these dresses. Watch this space!
What’s on My Sewing Table?
As you know I’m trying to sew both myself and my husband a shirt each for Christmas using the ‘Fishing on Cotton’ fabric I bought from Stitch Fabrics. I’m ¾ of the way through my shirt, the B5526, a princess seamed shirt, which is sewing up a treat. Staying focused and working on each of my Christmas sewing projects in the order I have in my head; me, hubby then son.
Other Finished Projects
I’m whizzing through my knitting projects. I now have two complete pairs of socks. These socks were missing their partner, so it didn’t take long to finish these. I’m glad to say that is now my socks WIPs up-to-date…. Feeling smug….. Look at me getting to grips with my unfinished projects, even if they are only the knitting ones!
If you want to have a go at knitting socks look for ‘Vanilla’ sock patterns on Ravelry. Vanilla just means basic in the sock world. Give them a go. They are just fun makes. Staying focused I need to finish my shirt and my hubby’s shirt and two hoodies for my son. I’m trying not to deviate from my sewing plans as I’m aware Christmas is only 5 weeks away.
I've been busy buying samples of hoodie fabric so I can feel, look and stretch the fabric before I make a decision on what I want to buy. Most of the swatches of fabric I've ordered has a composition of 70% cotton/ 30% polyester or 65/ 35, so very similar, but the weight rangings from 280gsm (grammes per square metre) to 490gsm. I think the 490gsm would, in my personal opinion, be too heavy.
