Let's talking sewing designer dresses. I have finally settled on the patterns for the gorgeous Italian designer knits I bought last fall. I'm very excited to get back to making dresses after a well needed dress making break, where I focused more on making basics and separates, i.e. stuff that I actually wear on a daily basis. But I love making dresses, so it's nice to once more add some glam to my wardrobe.

One dress is from Dutch pattern magazine Knip Mode (Fashion Style) issue nr 10 2016. I'm using a Roberto Cavalli designer knit for that dress.

The second dress I will sew is a wrap dress inspired by Diane von Furstenberg classic wrap dress. The fabric is from Italian designer brand Iceberg.

I will hack the Butterick B5030 wrap dress pattern to make it more similar to DVF. But it will require a lot of alterations:

* The sleeves are too big on the Butterick pattern
* The shoulder seam needs to be shorter so that it ends on the shoulder point.
* The collar looks a bit too big
* I don't like how the sleeve cuffs stands out, I want them to sit tighter
* I will taper in the skirt a bit to make it slightly less full
* I will probably need to go down one size since this pattern is also drafted for woven fabrics, so I suspect some extra ease overall.
