PROBABLY DONT WATCH THIS IF U DONT KNOW WHAT NUANCE IS
the quality is ass bc i had to highlight the bit in the vod and download it, blame twitch i guess. the footage isn't super relevant anyway. this is essentially a podcast.
in regards to the end part, I think with pokemon it's not just sunk cost fallacy, it's also the fact people don't like change and thusly will resist progress, in stead pretending the product is shit now.
in the case of pokemon, this could be type rebalances, special/physical split etc. all changes that most would agree are progress that moves the franchise forward. but since it's different, lots will use it as ammo to call it bad.
this exact thing applies to tf2 in the sense that lots of people will cite maps like oddysee & phoenix as bad because 'they look like overwatch'. when in reality, the maps just look modern. they look like they were made by mappers who wanted to improve and push forward mapping standards.
saying these maps are bad because they don't look like they're from 2007 is essentially flaming technology for getting better. you're fighting against the current of what any sensible mapper would want to do, which is move the scene forward to a better place.
this very heavily plays into why i am of the opinion those arguing such a stance are stuck in the past. bc it quite literally exemplifies how ppl like this glorify the past
