Unfortunately for actual runs, this would rely on the alien not dropping early when going back to the elevator. If it's in the back of the room and it charges you then it will stop around the same place every time if you're holding up the flamethrower, so by timing the elevator button press with the alien's threatened animation cycle you can get this to work relatively easily.
This is tested on Switch, I don't have the capability to test for the PC version.
What happens here is that the loading screen triggers while the alien kills you (probably requires the button press animation to complete), and presumably the game then resets your health back to full on loading the next area to prevent an infinite death loop.
