Triple output power supplies are great! But sometimes, you need more power than just one channel can provide.

We know that a triple output power supply can supply power to multiple channels at once, so the total power generation capability of the benchtop power supply is greater than the generation capability of just a single channel.

So, what do you do if you want to harness the box’s power into one output? You could go get a higher wattage supply, or you could combine your supply’s outputs using a serial or parallel connection.

Essentially, a serial setup gives you double the voltage output at the same current, and a parallel setup gives you double the current output capabilities at the same voltage.

You can set this up the old-school way by externally wiring outputs together and setting up a reverse biased diode to avoid blowing up your supplies, or you can use a power supply with parallel and serial connections built-in.

The nice thing about this power supply is that all of this routing is done internally and controlled via software, so you don’t have to do any external connection of posts.
