This video is a brief look at Serdaco's strangest wavetable: McFly
McFly uses a VLSI VS1053, an audio processing ASIC meant for smartphones and portable devices. It's definitely out of its element here!
I put the little board through its paces and find its limits pretty quickly, but also some pleasant surprises. I'll be testing this board more thoroughly in the future.
I compare audio quality with my SB16's OPL3, but the below timestamps go straight to McFly audio
