The American poet W.H.Auden sat down in a dive bar, NYC and wrote this poem on hearing the crazed news that WW II had started, that the Nazi Germany had invaded Poland. We celebrate it today, September 1st.
It's theme of hope despite the despair, crazed civilizational march into maddness, remains as relevant today as it did almost 100 years ago.
