Review – The stand out feature of this game from the off is the graphics. Which is a rare thing to say about a game these days. The character models are probably the most realistic I’ve seen in a game. The game itself plays like one giant cutscene, where there are no button prompts or HUD ever shown to you during gameplay. The lack of button prompts is a double edges sword because you have to work out what to do yourself, but after the initial controls screen before the game starts, it’s easy to forget what all the buttons do from the off and I found myself walking slowly through the beginning of the game before I even thought of pressing the run button.
The combat is very straight forward. Attack, heavy attack, block and dodge (when the enemies attack glows red). Then there is a special attack once your metre charges up so you definitely get a kill. I found the combat to be pretty easy as I only died 5 times. But the difficulty was on ‘Adaptive’ so I don’t know what real difficulty it ever reached.
The game is unique in it’s style as an interactive movie. It can get very slow at times, and scenes can take a bit too long. There is a lot of slow walking too which can test patience at times.
It’s a short game – clocking in at 6.5 hours play, so similar to the first game. And talking of the first game, this seems to be a but less of a game in comparison. It’s more like a movie. There was more to the first game as I recall. It was also cooler that you could play it in VR.
It’s definitely worth playing as an experience but the first game impressed me more.
More of a graphical showcase than a game.
