Policymakers cannot afford to be passive. Cooperation is key to human success. So far, mistrustful nations have not been able to unite with a common purpose. Instead the COVID-19 pandemic has seen us shrinking back into our countries, our states, and our homes.
Does this swift shift mean an end to globalisation, or is it just a pause? Will self-sufficiency strengthen the state, but with an unintended rise in nationalism, with overtones of racism?
