This is my last video of the year. I started uploading these recordings of me playing the piano earlier this year. In the very first one, I wore my cloaklike long coat, so I figured it's only apt to wear the same attire for this one.
If you wonder why I look so grim, it's likely because I was (and still am) quite sick while recording this! I also might not have used the best lighting :P
Anyway, what is this piece?
It's an original composition, which I created over the span of a couple of months, alongside my studies. I try to create a few, kind of... 'Grander' pieces every year, mostly in order to force myself to develop my compositional skills, and style (and because it's fun!).
This one happens to be a tad more on the classical side than most of my composition are too, which is kinda neat, I suppose.
As you can imagine, since this is a fairly complex track and I happen to have a rough cold (excuses), I made some mistakes while playing (I also only had time for one take!), but most of them were fairly small ones (and the major ones are probably only visible in slow motion). I fixed them in the audio, since I feel the overall experience is better that way. If you feel like watching a more pure and honest version of me playing this, you can check out something I recorded on my phone almost two weeks ago:
youtube.com/watch?v=6F15IeqTAR4
The piece wasn't entirely finished at that point, and I hadn't gotten as much practice, but it's played on a real piano.
It's probably not noticable at all, but two of the pieces that inspired this composition are from Cloud Atlas, and I think they're simply called "Official Bonus Track - Cloud Atlas Sextet Piano Original", along with "Frobisher's Audition".
Anyway, now we've got ourselves a long description again :)
I hope you're able to enjoy this piece, in all its weirdness. And that's everything from me this year! Thank you for watching, I very much appreciate it. Have a Happy New Year!

I finally manged to upload another cover!
Ive been plenty busy lately, predominantly with tasks related to my studies. Im glad I managed to squeeze this little cover in, though! I watched the anime (2011 version) a couple of months ago, and not only did I fall in love with it, but I fell in love with the incredible soundtrack as well!
I knew I had to cover something from it, and while it took some time, here we are :)
Sorry about the quality, I have no idea what happened. My video settings are off too, but I dont have time to edit and render it again. This is actually the first take; I definitely couldve played the piece better than this (and I forgot to remove the auto-adjust function again too D:), but since my cats happened to come into the shot, I decided its probably more fun this way, despite the flaws :p
If you want to download the audio, with a higher quality...

EDIT: Synthesia Tutorial now available:

Hello there!
As promised, Im back with an actual cover. Well, its a mix between a real arrangement, and just me improvising. I had some thoughts on how to do it before recording, but I felt like this is the kind of piece thats well suited for a bit of a spur of the moment touch. I hope you like the end result of that!
This piece has been requested of me a couple of times, and I enjoy it very much myself. It has been more than a year since my last proper cover of a piece from this anime, so I decided it was time. As you probably saw from the title, this is the piece Sorrow, from Silver Fang (Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin). Occasionally, Ive seen an alternate name of the piece, Sad Memory of Father, thrown around. Either way, both names fit well, as its a rather sombre composition.
Now, I did fix a couple of minor playing mistakes in the MIDI, post recording; its tough to play without a plan and practice. Theres a bit of imperfection left in there too, naturally. I decided to play this in F# minor, since the composition seems to fit that key in both sound and feel when playing. The original, I believe, is in F minor.
Either way, I hope you enjoy the cover! Let me know what you think of it, especially since the style differs somewhat from the original :)
P.S. Oh, and if you havent, check out my other Silver Fang Cover:
