This fight with Sekiro's foster father is my favourite in the whole game right next to Isshin, it's much better than the first one in Ashina Castle. Here he uses way more direct attacks with fairly complex combos and doesn't rely on cheap tricks like throwing poison or Lloyd's talismans. In his second phase he pretty much gets a Stand/Patronus/whatever you wanna call it owl, who'll help him transport instantly from one point in the area to another and sometimes will transform into a huge fireball he'll hurl at you before doing a thrust attack. His kick attack he uses to gain distance will be also followed by shurikens to the face in phase 2, so either deflect or dodge forward about 0.5 second after the kick. his regular attacks are still rather slow and you can feel free to attack him as long as he doesn't deflect you, if that happens then it's for the best to deflect 1 or 2 of his follow-up attacks and continue with your own. He can power through them with overhead slash attack that has long wind-up, which is a good opportunity to hit him before he ends up winding it up and right after dodging it.
