Jack's Shin-cident and the 48 Hours of Hell
Part I: The Shin-cident
This past Sunday (5/7/17), my buddies and I went for a motorcycle cruise on our street legal dirt bikes (dual sports). It was just supposed to be an easy cruise with maybe some mild off-roading. Very mild.
It was beautiful day for sure. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and the temperature was around 80°F (26.66°C). We were having a great time riding around like hoodlums doing wheelies, jumping things, and talking on our comms. I had made a critical mistake this day and I'll talk about that a bit later.
We decided to go up this dirt road that turned into the forest and got pretty gnarly. It wasn't bad but we were definitely not geared up for such a ride. Jack, one of the guys with us rode past me yelling stuff. He got off his bike, and sat down holding his leg. "oh oh, I thought". "Oh, oh" was right.
I parked my bike and scurried off to jack and what I saw was a 4-5" cut on his shin all the way to the bone. OUCH. Blood was coming out and it was a big, deep cut. He had slipped and his shin grazed the sharp footpeg. That's all it took. those things are sharp and solid. Jack had to hold it in place while my buddy Kalani and I got on our bikes and rode off to the nearby village. A tiny village. We asked everyone we could for crazy glue to close that wound up so we could get Jack out of there. Kalani and I ended up at a fancy gallery overlooking the tiny village by the sea and the people working there were trying to look for crazy glue.
Eventually, we saw everyone ride into the parking lot including Jack. The other guys had some electrical tape and they wrapped some gauze on Jack's shin-cident real tight. We all left together and got to the staging ground where their trucks were. I had ridden my Yamaha WR290R there from my house (part of my critical mistake - more about this later).
We all followed Kalani who was driving Jack's truck to a Dentist's office a few towns away. Mind you this was on a Sunday. A man comes to us and greets us. We follow him and he opens up the Dental Practice and we all pile in. It was hot in there. Real hot. Some other people show up. It's one of the guy's hygenists/assistants! I was thinking to myself, wow what's going on? I found out that the Dentist was Jack's dad.
It was one of the most interesting and hilarious things to watch happen live. Jack was getting his wound cleaned and then stitched up while sitting in a dentist patient chair. We all watched closely and filmed and took pictures. It was quite interesting! There are some pics on my other instagram @45minitstop.
