The Seiko SRPE21, being part of the "Specialist" subcollection within the broader 5 Sports range, is most easily recognized by its dual-material or fused strap.

The SRPE21 is not a slim watch on the wrist. The case is slightly "tall" on the wrist, which means the watch wouldn't fit under a tight cuff. Nevertheless, the dimensions are quite proportional and the watch looks and fits great.

The case dimensions of the SRPE21 are as follows:
- Case size: 42.5mm
- Case thickness: 13.4mm
- Lug-to-lug: 46mm
- Strap size: 22mm (between the lugs)
While I usually stick to watches 40mm or smaller (in diameter), I'm a fan of how this SRPE21 wears. The strap also helps the watch fit more compactly on the wrist as there are no bracelet end-links to increase the size of the watch across the wrist.
The steel case has a brushed or satin-finish top and high-polish case flanks. At the meeting of these two contrasting metal finishes is a slight bevel that adds a pleasing detail to the case profile.

The outside of the steel diver's bezel is textured to improve grip when turning it and is also in a high-polish finish. The diver's scale insert is black with metallic silver markings and there is no luminous pip at the 12 index.
Protecting the face of the watch is a scratch-resistant and shatter-proof Seiko Hardlex crystal.

The dial of the Seiko SRPE21 is a flat black color with polished, applied hour indices, silver minute markings, and polished center hands. Both the center hands and hour indices are filled with a large amount of lume that is Seiko LumiBrite (green).
Since this model has a Mada-In-Japan movement, you'll note that at 6 o'clock is a small print that says "Mov't Japan".
04:30 SRPE21 (Mov't Japan) vs. SBSA027 (Made in Japan)
This same style is available as an international market version, where the movement is not made in Japan, but it is sold under a different reference number.
There is also a version of this watch that is made entirely in Japan (case and movement). The reference for that watch is SBSA027

The Seiko 5 Sports SRPE21 comes on a black silicone strap that has a stitched-in alligator component on its top side. At the price point, it's unlikely that the alligator is true alligator hide, nevertheless, it still looks good. The strap is also accompanied by a black silicone keeper and polished Seiko tang bukle.
08:23 Seiko 4R36 Self-Winding Movement
The 4R36 is the movement inside this SRPE21 (and the movement in all 5 Sports divers). It boasts a 41-hour power reserve, +45/-35 secs/day accuracy, hacking/stop seconds functionality, and can be handwound via the crown.
Through the see-through caseback, which itself is branded with "Mov't Japan", we can admire the finishing of the 4R36, which has brushed movement bridges and a branded winding rotor.
10:39 Water Resistance Rating
The Seiko SRPE21 is rated to 100m of depth due to the fact that its crown does not screw down into the case. However, this also means that the movement can be wound when the crown is at position "0".
