And now for something that I did not expect to find at all!
First up is a version of the Evo V edited to look like the Carisma GT Evo 5 R44 MRE as driven by Richard Burns in 1998. It was intended to be a completely separate car, further proven by the fact that a car slot for it still exists in the PC version. Likely cut because in reality it's just a slightly altered texture, but technically it has the correct Carisma logo on the sides which R22 MRE had.
Fun fact: in SR2, Evo V wrongly uses the P22 MRE plates and subsequently the Carisma GT also has P44 MRE, which were used on the Evo IV, instead of the correct for the Evo V R22 MRE and R44 MRE plates. Probably just another oversight!
Next up is an early model of the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16. It proves that the developers originally intended to feature an Evo 1 in the game, just like the original reference vehicle and textures for the model. In the final game, however it was modified to look like an Evo 2, while retaining the Evo 1 textures, with some very minor changes done in its front texture. Is it possible that they ran out of time to alter the textures for a proper Evo 2? We might probably never know for sure.
