Vandana Shiva trained as a physicist and did an interdisciplinary doctorate on ‘Hidden Variables and Non-Locality in Quantum Theory’ at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. She is Founder/Director of the Research Foundation for Science, Technology, and Ecology and Navdanya, a movement for seed saving and ecological agriculture. She is the author of numerous books including Staying Alive, Ecofeminism, Seed Sovereignty and Food Security: Women in the Vanguard (Ed.), Soil Not Oil, Earth Democracy and Who Feeds the World. For four decades of dedication to independent and ecological research, Dr. Shiva has been honored with many awards, including: The Right Livelihood Award, The Sydney Peace Prize, The Fukuoka
Prize and the Lennon-Ono Peace Prize.
