Mahatma Gandhi established the Natal Indian Congress in 1894 in South Africa. In 2007 Point Road in Durban Kwa-Zulu Natal was renamed Mahatma Gandhi Road. South African authorities renamed the street after Mahatma Gandhi in an effort to give the notorious neighbourhood a moral facelift as it was previously know as the 'prostitution hub' in Durban.
