Playa Coronado has white and black volcanic sand beach much like Playa Gorgona, nearby. This video shows some of the activities possible, including motor bike, kayaking, paddling.
The water gets deeper sooner than Gorgona however. Be very alert for the tide and those with little or no swimming skills should stay very close to the shore and with supervision. Waves can appear smooth but are powerful here and catch non swimmers off guard and suddenly they cannot touch the sand with their feet.
The beach is relatively clean and this in part due to bins being provided, which is not common. There are no public showers. There are some shaded areas under palms. Security is better than most Panamanian beaches.
