Reclamation is removing 54 million cubic feet of sediment that has accumulated on the Colorado River upstream of Imperial Dam near Yuma. Water flowing through Imperial Dam irrigates more than 500,000 acres of farmland and serves homes and businesses in Southern Arizona and California’s Imperial and Coachella valleys. The four-year project will keep water flowing to the All-American and Gila Gravity Main canals and is expected to recover as much as 1,250-acre feet of storage capacity.
