One section of text from "Flow", the companion piece to my sculpture "Pressure" on the Prairie Line Trail in downtown Tacoma.
Taken from a 1916 letter from Captain Matsuzo Sakamoto from Tacoma to his family in Yokohoma. His freighter, the Seiko Maru, sank with all hands on the voyage back.
Translation: "How are you and my family? Did you deliver a baby? Our vessel arrived at Victoria safely and has arrived Port Tacoma via Seattle at 12th March afternoon. We will leave Tacoma around 22nd. I’m supposed to arrive at Yokohama, Japan around 13th April."
