🎄🎄🎄 SECRET SANTA HWJ CHALLENGE 🎄🎄🎄
For this year's christmas holidays the HWJ group has a very special challenge: The motto is to create a jam for one of the team-mates. The partners are assigned by chance and the gifted persons do not know, who is creating a jam for them. 😊
I am honoured to create a jam for Inky Da Cat, one of the HWJ core team members. I've found a great description of her in one of the livestreams, she is hosting:
"'Inky Da Cat' - Queen of the live jam, Empress of the live stream and a genuine Welsh Princess. [She] is a top friend and true legend of the scene. As a big part of the 'Hardware jams' Facebook group, she eschews all things computer for making music in favour of creating tracks live and on the fly with a great selection of kit and cleverness."
These words seem so fitting, that I chose them as central phrases for the jam.
Music has been created on an Elektron #syntakt and a #volcasample and recorded in one take played live. I am using song mode on the Syntakt here. Some parts of the Volca Sample are running on it's own sequencer, the first part is triggered by ST's part three. It is a bit special: Holds the same sample you are hearing in the beginning, but reversed and the ST is triggering sample start position CC via a randomized LFO. These short grains create a great vocal melody line (... I think so, at least... 😊).
